Our Story

More Than Italian Ice

Blue Arctic Treats is proudly owned and operated by 15-year-old entrepreneur Derwin Hans Batichon II of Powder Springs, Georgia. What began as an idea to serve premium Italian Ice has become an opportunity for Derwin to gain real-world experience in entrepreneurship while building a business he can truly call his own. Although Blue Arctic Treats is based in Powder Springs, we proudly serve customers throughout Metro Atlanta and are available for festivals, schools, churches, sporting events, corporate events, birthday parties, neighborhood gatherings, fundraisers, and community celebrations.

Recognizing Derwin's passion for entrepreneurship and his desire to build something meaningful, his father, Hans Batichon, helped launch Blue Arctic Treats and now serves as his mentor. Rather than simply teaching entrepreneurship in theory, Hans believes the best classroom is real life. Together, they are building a business where Derwin learns firsthand what it takes to become a successful entrepreneur. From budgeting and marketing to customer service, inventory management, event planning, and financial responsibility, every event is another lesson in business ownership.

While Hans provides guidance and support behind the scenes, Derwin is the owner of Blue Arctic Treats. He is actively involved in growing the business, serving customers, making business decisions, promoting the brand, and creating memorable experiences for every customer. Each event helps him develop leadership, communication, problem-solving, and financial skills that will benefit him for years to come.

Blue Arctic Treats is only the beginning of Derwin's entrepreneurial journey. His dream is to one day own multiple successful businesses while creating opportunities for others. He also hopes to pass along everything he learns to his three younger brothers—Micah, Cameron, and Josiah—so they can experience the same excitement of entrepreneurship and business ownership.

For his younger brother Cameron, who has autism, this vision is especially meaningful. As Cameron gets older, Derwin hopes Blue Arctic Treats will provide him with opportunities to develop valuable workplace skills, build confidence, interact with customers, and discover meaningful ways to contribute. The Batichon family believes that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, work, and succeed, and they hope the business becomes a place where each brother can use his unique talents and strengths.

At Blue Arctic Treats, we're serving more than premium Italian Ice—we're building a legacy of entrepreneurship, family, mentorship, and opportunity. Every event booked and every cup purchased directly supports a young entrepreneur who is learning how to build a business with integrity, serve his community with excellence, and inspire the next generation to dream big.

When you choose Blue Arctic Treats, you're doing more than enjoying a frozen treat—you are investing in a young entrepreneur, supporting youth-owned business, and helping build a legacy that will impact generations to come.
